Water Level & Leak Detection Sensor Module
Detect water leaks, rainfall, or measure the depth of water in a container with this simple and effective Water Level Sensor Module. This sensor is an excellent, low-cost solution for a wide range of water-based projects, from building an automatic plant watering system to a basement flood alarm.
The sensor works on the principle of electrical resistance. The exposed parallel traces on the PCB act as a variable resistor. As the water level rises and submerges more of the traces, the resistance between them decreases. This change can be easily read as an analog voltage by a microcontroller like an Arduino.
This module provides a straightforward analog output that is proportional to the depth of the water it is submerged in, making it easy to create alarms or control systems that react to the presence or level of water.
Key Features:
- Sensing Principle: Resistive
- Primary Function: Detects water presence and relative water level
- Output: Analog voltage output (higher voltage = more water detected)
- Operating Voltage: 3.3V to 5V DC
- Low Power Consumption: Ideal for battery-operated monitoring systems
– Interface: Simple 3-pin header (Signal, VCC, GND)
Applications:
The Water Level Sensor is perfect for a variety of useful projects, including rainfall detection modules for weather stations, automatic fish tank fillers, basement or kitchen water leak alarms, and liquid level controllers for Arduino and other microcontrollers.
