L293D Motor Driver Shield for Arduino Uno
Instantly add motor control capabilities to your Arduino with the convenient L293D Motor Driver Shield. This shield is the easiest and fastest way to get your robotics projects moving, designed to plug directly onto any standard Arduino Uno or Mega board. It eliminates complex wiring, allowing you to focus on programming your robot’s behavior.
Based on two L293D H-bridge driver ICs, this shield can drive a wide variety of motors. It provides 4 full H-Bridges, giving you the power to control:
- Up to 4 bi-directional DC motors with individual 8-bit speed selection.
- Up to 2 stepper motors (unipolar or bipolar).
- Up to 2 servo motors.
The shield separates the motor power supply from the Arduino’s logic supply, protecting your Arduino from current spikes. An external power terminal allows you to connect a higher voltage power source to run your motors effectively. It also includes a convenient reset button and breakout pins for other unused Arduino I/O.
Key Features:
- Easy to Use: Plugs directly on top of Arduino Uno, Mega, and compatible boards.
- Versatile Control: Drives 4 DC motors, 2 stepper motors, or 2 servo motors.
- Driver ICs: 2x L293D chips providing 4 full H-Bridges.
- Motor Current: Up to 600mA per channel (1.2A peak).
- Power Supply: Separate terminal for external motor power (4.5V-25V).
- Pull-down Resistors: Ensures motors remain stopped during power-up.
- Ready to Go: Compatible with the official Arduino AFMotor library for easy programming.
Applications:
This motor shield is the perfect foundation for building 4-wheel drive (4WD) robot cars, robotic arms, drawing bots, and any multi-motor project based on the Arduino platform. It’s an essential tool for beginners and educators in robotics.
